Among the animals that live alongside human beings, birds remain one of the few that have stayed wild. Moreover, they are numerous, and their freedom—always conditioned by the need to protect themselves from potential predators or to find food—adds to the mystery and beauty of their existence. A few other domesticated birds also serve human beings. Their plumage, the presence of the sky often associated with capturing a bird in flight, trees, and rocks can all give photography an additional dimension. Capturing moments of birds in flight or at rest is always a renewed pleasure as a photographer. Their beauty and mystery sometimes manage to shine through—in these images, I hope.
